Speaker Information:
Mr. Chris Arends currently has full managerial responsibility for the provision of weather services that enable situational awareness and address impacts to operations at SDGE.
Prior to SDGE, Chris served 24 years in the US Navy as an Oceanography Officer with three ship tours of increasing responsibility and complexity, including mitigating risk for 20 ships and over 160 aircraft from environmental effects. He also directed the Joint Typhoon Warning Center with international warning responsibility for over 20 countries and their respective US Embassies.
Chris grew up in Switzerland, Austria, and Denmark, and received language training in each host country. He returned to the US for high school and subsequently graduated with a BS in Meteorology from Cornell University in 1990, a MS in Oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School in 1997, and a MBA from Georgetown University in 2009.
